The caper is a typical plant of the Mediterranean area, especially of Sicily (Eolie Isles) where the very hot, sunny weather helps the caper bush to grow.

The beautiful flowers of the caper bush (locally called Lipari orchids) are hard to spot unless you are one of the many hand pickers that collect these tiny buds. These lacrimella capers are twice as large as the occhiolino capers in the 100g tub, and are also preserved in sea salt, which should be rinsed off thoroughly before use.
